Attracteurs étranges
Attracteurs de Lorenz, Rössler, Thomas et Duffing : orbites 3D, projections 2D, sections de Poincaré, paramètres en direct.
About this tool
Continuous-time flows dx/dt = f(x): integrate with RK4 and watch sensitive dependence on initial conditions.
Presets & ideas
- Lorenz — classic 1963 model of convection rolls; the “butterfly” strange attractor underlies popular chaos–weather metaphors (not a forecast model).
- van der Pol — 2D limit cycle for small μ; Poincaré–Bendixson rules out chaos in the plane, but a forced 3D extension can be chaotic.
- Duffing — here as a driven ODE; a related quadratic map also shows period doubling (compare Iterated maps).
- Mackey–Glass — delay feedback; needs history buffers in RK4.
- Hénon–Heiles — 4D Hamiltonian; energy view plots the conserved Hamiltonian.
Poincaré sections slice a 3D orbit when a coordinate crosses a plane; time series and energy strips scroll as the simulation runs.
