Tea brewing guide

Scale tea leaves to your water volume and time an adjustable hot infusion.

About this tool

Select a tea, then set water volume, temperature and steep seconds. Weigh the calculated leaves. Dose & guidance lets you change grams per 100 ml and disable the sound; its link identifies the recipe source. Selecting another tea loads its initial recipe and resets the timer. It is a new recipe, so the water amount also changes.

Sencha and gyokuro use specific Ippodo first-infusion recipes: 10 g/210 ml at 80°C for 60 seconds, and 10 g/80 ml at 60°C for 90 seconds. Other types use editable starting points within Palais des Thés family guidance. The oolong and herbal doses use family-range midpoints. They are not universal optimum recipes, extraction simulations or automatic next-infusion schedules. Check your package and taste. Scaling water changes leaves proportionally; it does not change time or temperature.

Start begins the countdown; Pause stops it and Resume continues. Inputs are locked while running. Reset timer returns to the currently entered duration, retaining the recipe. A finished timer can start again. Changing the duration resets remaining time. The timer uses elapsed time rather than counting callbacks and keeps running in a hidden browser tab. Returning synchronizes the display after throttling.

Switching tools pauses the timer; reload restores a paused timer and raw recipe locally. Keep this page open during brewing. Sound is optional and depends on browser audio support; closing, suspending or unloading the application can delay or prevent an alarm. No system notification or guaranteed background wake-up. Water 1–100,000 ml; time 1–3,600 whole seconds; temperature 0–100°C; positive leaf ratio. Tiny positive doses use scientific notation. No kettle control, cooling calculation, microbial safety assessment or cold-brew model.
