Keyboard Layout

Print common keyboard layouts such as QWERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak and Colemak.

About this tool

Choose a layout and Base or Shift. The diagram shows the main PC key cluster: ANSI for US, Dvorak and original Colemak; ISO for German QWERTZ. German includes the extra < > key, short left Shift and a two-row Enter. Colemak maps the Caps position to Backspace. Base letters are shown as their lowercase output, not uppercase physical keycap lettering.

Finger zones use a conventional touch-typing assignment by physical position, not a repeating color cycle or letter identity. Numbers 1–9 and the named legend provide a second cue beyond color. Modifier shortcuts and some number/B-key assignments can vary between teaching methods; this is not a prescribed ergonomic technique or a speed/health claim.

On narrow screens the diagram scrolls within its own box so labels stay readable. Print opens a light A4 landscape sheet with the selected layer and optional legend. Selected layout, layer and zones survive reload. This does not change your operating-system keyboard. No function row, navigation/numpad block, AltGr/Compose layer or vendor-specific keys. Symbol facts checked against xkeyboard-config; hardware and operating-system variants may differ.
