Columns
Extract, split or join text columns
About this tool
Paste CSV or TSV, choose separators and columns, then apply. Column numbers start at 1. Commas separate selections; 3-1 selects 3,2,1. Keep emits exactly the selected columns, including duplicates. Remove preserves remaining order. Move to front emits the selection first, followed by unselected columns.
Double-quoted cells, escaped double quotes and multiline cells use the shared CSV parser. Separators are one character; \t means a tab. Output quoting preserves separators and line breaks inside cells. Records use LF; an ending record separator is preserved. Spaces and empty fields remain.
Columns absent from every record are errors. If a column exists in some records but is missing from a shorter record, its selected value is empty. Malformed quotes or column specifications fail without partial output. Limits: 2000000 input characters and 10000 selected columns. Copy/download uses the full output; nothing is stored or transmitted.
Input exceeds 100000 records. The result exceeds the processing budget (4000000 characters or 1000000 cells).
