Torque & power
Convert torque and shaft power at a given rotation speed; distinguish kW, metric PS and mechanical hp.
About this tool
Choose power or torque, enter the other quantity and the rotation speed, then calculate. The selected power unit applies to the result or the power input. Switching units converts an existing power input; input changes clear the old result.
For one shaft: P = τ · ω, with ω = 2π · rpm / 60. Enter torque in Nm and nonnegative magnitudes. At zero RPM, finite torque produces zero power; the reverse calculation is indeterminate, even if power is also zero.
PS means metric horsepower: 1 PS = 735.49875 W. Mechanical horsepower is 1 hp ≈ 745.6998716 W. These are different units; a unit conversion does not establish an engine power measurement standard. Other power units are available in the result details.
This is a single operating-point conversion, not an engine curve, drivetrain-loss or acceleration simulation. Use torque and power from the same shaft and operating point. Reset restores the example; extremely small or large unrepresentable results are rejected.
