PGP Fingerprint

Paste a full hexadecimal fingerprint in A. Optionally paste B to compare every group, including groups missing from a shorter value. Case, whitespace, colons and hyphens are ignored; other characters are rejected. Input is limited to 4,096 characters per field.

Without B, the normalized value appears in groups of four. With B, the two rows share numbered group columns; differences are underlined and labelled for assistive technology. Missing groups are explicit. Copy either value grouped or without spaces; the table can scroll horizontally on a phone.

Supported lengths are 40 and 64 hexadecimal characters. OpenPGP v4 uses 160-bit fingerprints and v6 uses 256 bits, but length alone does not establish a key version or prove that the text belongs to a real key. Historical 64-character fingerprints can also be formatted. Short key IDs and legacy 32-character fingerprints are not accepted.

This tool compares text only: no fingerprint calculation from a key, key lookup, ownership or trust verification. Formatting and comparison update directly while typing; Clear empties both fields. Only exact raw inputs and the copy format are kept through the shared local browser adapter, including invalid drafts. Results are rebuilt from the inputs, never saved. Nothing is uploaded.
