Mexican-Hat Quench Lab

2D lattice quench through μ²=0: watch domains form, track ⟨|φ|⟩→vev, Goldstone vs Higgs mass, domain count.

About this tool

Mexican-Hat Quench Lab — a complex order parameter on a fixed 48 × 48 lattice with overdamped Langevin dynamics under V=μ²|φ|²+λ|φ|⁴. Above the transition (μ²≥0), the origin is the minimum and both curvatures are m²=2μ². Below it, v=√(−μ²/(2λ)); the Hessian gives mH²=−4μ² radially and mG²=0 around the ring. Cool μ² from positive to negative to form domains; phase sets color and |φ| sets brightness. The seed makes the sampled noise reproducible. The displayed domain count is a coarse lattice diagnostic, not a thermodynamic observable.
