HTTP Codes
Look up HTTP status codes with short meanings and typical when-to-use notes.
About this tool
Search status codes or selected common headers. Results update directly; search names, codes, historical aliases and translated meanings. A status line such as HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found, a header line such as Content-Type: application/json, or a class such as 4xx can be pasted. Header values are not interpreted.
Status names follow the IANA registry snapshot retrieved 2026-10-18 (registry update 2025-09-15). Includes reserved/obsolete entries with their context. Code 104 is temporary in this snapshot, expiring 2026-11-13; this is not a live registry feed. Historical names such as Payload Too Large, Unprocessable Entity and teapot remain searchable.
Header direction describes permitted use, not a guarantee that every request or response has the field. Some headers serve both directions. This is a curated selection, not the full field registry or a header/security validator. Protocol reason phrases remain in English; explanations follow your language.
Filters apply within the current tab. Each tab remembers its own search and filter in RAM through tool navigation. Reload clears them; no inputs are uploaded or persistently stored. Search is limited to 512 characters.
