Coordinate Converter
RA / Dec ↔ degrees; Equatorial ↔ Galactic
About this tool
Convert between equatorial coordinates on fixed ICRS/J2000 axes and Galactic longitude/latitude.
Enter RA in decimal degrees or hh:mm:ss / 12h34m56.7s, and declination in degrees or ±dd:mm:ss. Decimal commas are accepted. Galactic longitude wraps into 0–360°; latitude must be within ±90°.
Convert shows the target coordinates. Swap transfers a valid result into the opposite direction. Equatorial formats includes decimal degrees for catalogues. Copy copies the displayed target coordinates.
Example: RA 10.68458°, declination 41.26917° → l ≈ 121.17424°, b ≈ −21.57289°. At a coordinate pole, longitude or RA is undefined and shown as —.
Fixed rotation only: no B1950, date-dependent precession, proper motion or apparent sky position. Six displayed decimals describe rounding, not observational accuracy.
