Container Resource Sizer

Estimate CPU and memory requests from observed usage and your chosen reserve; check existing limits.

About this tool

Enter an observed CPU usage in millicpu (m), memory in MiB and your chosen reserve. Select values from monitoring for the same workload and period. This tool does not measure usage or infer percentiles.

Request = ceil(observed × (1 + reserve / 100)), rounded upward to whole m / MiB. Decimal inputs are evaluated without floating-point ceiling artifacts. Example: 100 m with 10% gives 110 m, not 111 m. This chosen policy is a sizing estimate, not a Kubernetes recommendation for every workload.

1,000 m = 1 CPU; 1 MiB = 1,048,576 bytes. Observations and optional existing limits: 0…1,000,000; reserve: 0…1,000%. Decimal comma/point and exponent notation are accepted, up to 64 characters. Positive values that underflow to zero are rejected.

Existing limits are checked against the recommended requests, not automatically generated. An empty limit means not specified here; cluster defaults or policies may still apply. CPU limits can throttle; memory limits can cause OOM termination. A sufficient limit does not prove adequate capacity or a safe workload.

Choose the reserve based on peaks, latency, startup and measurement quality. No monitoring, load tests, scheduling, OOM prediction or automatic tuning. Results require Recommend; edits clear them. Draft fields stay in memory during tool navigation, not across reloads. Nothing is uploaded or saved.
