About this tool
Plot the pH as you add titrant. Choose strong acid / strong base, weak acid / strong base, or weak base / strong acid, set volumes and concentrations, press Plot curve.
What to read. The steep jump is the equivalence point — moles of titrant equal moles of analyte. For a weak acid, the half-equivalence point sits at pH = pKa (buffer region); for a weak base, at pOH = pKb. Strong–strong equivalence is at pH 7; weak-acid equivalence is basic; weak-base equivalence is acidic.
Indicators. Overlay a common indicator’s transition range. It is a good choice when that band sits on the steep part of the curve, so a drop of titrant flips the colour right at equivalence.
Model. Strong species use charge balance; weak acids/bases use the Henderson–Hasselbalch buffer equation before equivalence and the hydrolysis of the conjugate at equivalence. Water autodissociation is included at the endpoints. Monoprotic only — phosphoric acid is approximated at its first equivalence.
