About this tool

Astronomical coordinates: RA / Dec ↔ decimal degrees, and Equatorial (ICRS / J2000) ↔ Galactic coordinates via a rotation matrix.

How to use

  • Type RA in hh:mm:ss or degrees, Dec in ±dd:mm:ss or degrees.
  • Switch direction with the Mode dropdown.

Example

RA 05:34:31.97, Dec +22:00:52.1 (Crab Nebula) → Galactic l ≈ 184.557°, b ≈ −5.784°.
