Canvas Paint

Draw or annotate an image on an 800 × 600 canvas, undo edits and export PNG or raster SVG.

About this tool

Create a single 800 × 600 pixel drawing or annotate an inserted image. Choose a tool and its color, width and opacity, then draw. Pen and eraser also work with a single tap. Width is measured in document pixels, independently of zoom; pointer pressure is not used.

The canvas starts white. The eraser removes pixels, including inserted images, to transparency. The checkerboard shows transparent areas and is not exported. A shape’s opacity applies once to the whole shape, including its fill and outline. Separate strokes can overlap and accumulate opacity.

Insert image centers a proportionally fitted PNG, JPEG or WebP on top of the current drawing. Files are limited to 16 MiB and 16 million decoded pixels. Import errors preserve the drawing. Drawing is locked while an image loads.

Undo and Redo restore exact pixels for strokes, image insertion and clearing. Up to 20 history steps are retained in total; a new edit discards redo steps. Clear restores the entire canvas to white. Escape or a cancelled pointer gesture discards the unfinished stroke. A stroke is limited to 8,192 recorded points; exceeding this limit cancels that stroke.

Use Pan, the middle mouse button, or hold Space while the canvas has keyboard focus. Ctrl/⌘ + wheel zooms around the pointer; the ordinary wheel scrolls the page. Fit follows changes in the available space. Other zoom levels keep the document’s visible center when the view is resized.

PNG exports the finished 800 × 600 RGBA bitmap. SVG (raster) contains exactly one embedded PNG with the same pixels; it is not editable vector artwork. Zoom and the checkerboard do not change the exported image.

Your drawing, undo history and tool settings remain available while switching tools in this browser session. Reloading restores small settings only, not the drawing or history. Export before reloading or closing the page. Processing stays in your browser.
